WHAT IS AN OFFSEASON ANYWAY?
AT SOME POINT IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS we'll be calling it quits. Season over. Some of it is forced, there just aren't any more races on the calendar. The rest of it is welcomed...
... there just isn't any more will to race.
Either way, it always make me feel like a bear. A great grizzly who has rampaged through spring, loaded up in summer, bashed about in fall...
... ready to slumber.
Typically, right before the slumber part I tend to get really bear-like and pack on some extra pounds.
I take some time off.
I get antsy.
Then I start laying down the base. First just random miles and whatever pace seems fun. Then more time in the saddle, purposely down in Z1 and Z2.
Friends might wanna get all racy, I pass.
Keep taking it easy, like a slumbering bear. My body repairing and rejuvenating. Lots of miles alone.
The thing I like the most about this grizzly analogy is once the hibernation is over...
... I'm hungry, and lean (and mean).
