HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BE RACEDAY READY?

QUESTION:  How old will I be by the time I'm RaceDay Ready™?

ANSWER:  The same age you'll be if you're not.

THE HARDEST PART ABOUT SETTING AN OUTRAGEOUS GOAL, isn't the goal itself.  It isn't all the time required, the sacrifices we'll make...

... it's the first pedal stroke.

And then the next.

It's so easy to get hijacked and distracted and discouraged...

... it's hard, it's so far away, I can start tomorrow.

The truth is, if we play this fitness game properly, is that it's in the doing.  Not the done...

... fitness is never done.

There will be new breakthroughs by the big thinkers, new methods, new strategies.  But, we'll never find them...

... if we don't take that first pedal stroke towards something outlandish.

I believe we all need at least 1 "A race" per year.  One day when we're gonna be at out best...

... and unleash our mighty fury.

That will keep us generally on track the other 364 days of the year.

In fact, this year is the end of a 20 year massive bet with myself and my friend Kevin.  That we could go under 9 hours at Leadville in our 60's. It sounded impossible at the time, we were barely doing that in our late 30's...

... now, I've made it even more outrageous.

Not only am I going for under 9, but I believe if everything goes perfect - me, bike, weather, competitors, etc...

... I can go under 8.

How can I believe this?

Because I'm still fascinated by going fast, still discovering new ways of getting it done.

And it's working.

One pedal stroke, after another.

Never stop.
