YOU DON'T KNOW SQUAT
TO LIFT OR NOT TO LIFT THAT IS THE QUESTION. And, if it's good to lift weights in the off-season why should it be bad to do so in the on-season...
... don't we need power when it's on?
A young gentleman rode side by side with me tonight.
I haven't been riding much
No?
No, I only ride a couple of days a week in the winter.
Why's that?
The cold, the dark.
Ah yes.
But, come June and July... you'll see.
A tour fan you are.
Yes, indeed.
Are you still lifting weights regularly?
Of for sure, even though I know it makes me slower.
But, does it?
Is that really true?
I think not.
After squatting almost daily for many, many months, I think it's just not true...
... a myth, a fallacy, an illusion.
Let me give you just 2 reasons to squat daily:
- Your posture will be improved.
- You will feel more confident.
- You will squat often.
- You'll be faster.
I can only vouch for the squats I'm doing with heavy dumbbells in each hand.
The posture thing is legit, and nobody talks about it. You'll just naturally stand taller and feel a helluvalot better.
Which naturally leads to feeling more confident about everything.
Soon you will notice you bend over less to pick something up. Instead, you squat down. All the way down. Easily.
And yeah...
... you'll definitely have more power on the bike.

I do my squats throughout the day. 5 after breakfast, 5 on my way out the door, 5 at lunch... and so on.
Sometimes in my work clothes.
Sometimes in workout clothes.
Speaking of which, I've been working on our new Podium Tech T for quite a while.
I wanted to get the fit just right.
Then, I want to sew it up and test it using the oh-so fine imported Italian fabric we use on the front of our jersey.
It is an extremely elegant mesh with 4 way stretch.
And, we can make them to match all your race gear...
... so you look sharp off the bike,
... working out at the gym,
... or on the podium.
I'll uploading a number of striking designs in the coming weeks.
