WHY JOIN A CLUB?

READER MH POINTED OUT WHAT HE LIKES ABOUT STRAVA CLUBS. It wasn't the chance to communicate, or join the posted rides...

... it was for the inspiration.

Specifically, he likes to see the others' weekly accomplishments.

The leader board totals.

Some of these guys ride a lot.

Like who?

Mark C, he rides up to 300 miles a week.

Oh yeah, he's a beast!

I bet.

Of course, off the bike he's a mild-mannered scientist.

So, maybe it's more than inspiration. Because when you dig a little, and find out who these cats are before they don their lycra alter egos, you learn they're regular peeps...

... who happen to get extraordinary results.

And, yeah, that is pretty dern inspiring.

Not sure if these come to you but I have a story I thought you'd like so sending it your way. We've met on Pendleton a couple times BTW.

I live in San Diego and was racing in Carson City with a buddy on Sunday. I went to bed thinking we were meeting at 5:45 am to carpool. Went to be early so I woke up without at 4:55 only to see a text saying "your house was dark so we left." It was supposed to be 4:45!! But no problem. My bike was ready and my RaceDay bag was packed so I jumped into my car and called my teammate. They were only 5 minutes down the road so they pulled over and we still were able to carpool together and have plenty of time for a warm up. Oh and, we raced twice and each got on the podium for one of the races (trading places as the leadout)!! All thanks to being ready with my RaceDay bag!!

Thanks, see you on pendleton again sometime.
