WHAT IS THE GOAL OF OFF SEASON?
WE'RE DRIVEN. Obviously, that's why we do what we do. We have an itch to perform. Regardless of the activity. It was the great Jim Collins who revealed in Good To Great, that great companies...
... have Big Hairy Audacious Goals.
Always.
So, what's the offseason BHAG?
If we had to pick one...
... return stronger?
If we could pick some...
- well-positioned for better power/weight
- all injuries addressed and healed
- equipment absolutely dialed
... seem worthy of our attention.
But, if I'm being honest, and I always am with you, it would be...
... returning with a freshness and rejuvenated passion.
The offseason, when done correctly, should have us feeling like the best race taper ever.
If I wanted a mental image to manifest that, I'd lock in to Jake from the movie Silverado...
... energetic young fella, wears two guns in a fancy rig.
===
I should just end it there, except I know you're wondering what's the recipe for feeling like Jake.
How'm I gunna do it...
- get a ton of sleep
- ride with the wind, no agenda and no plan
- probably up my strength sessions, but skip 'em if I'm not feelin' it
- the only really disciplined thing'll be the diet, to start the season at race weight
... something like that.
Bottom line...
... if it's not fun or adventurous I'll pass.
Really, really bottom line...
... if it ain't Hellyeah, it's no.
That should do it.
