WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SPONSOR AN EVENT?

BWR CA, is the 3rd event we've sponsored this year, after Rock Cobbler and Cactus Cup. Over the years, my motivation to be involved in the sport this way...

... has evolved.

Why do companies sponsor events?, is one question.

But, I'm more interested in your thoughts.

What you, as a participant...

  • want
  • expect
  • count on

... from your sponsors.

Do you want to see the latest and greatest products and services?

Are you wondering how much the promotor must be making from the sponsor money?

Is getting free shwag a draw?

Maybe it's just connecting better with the company?

If you didn't get a chance to see our Instagram post about the course today...

... the first sector is legit rocky, and will test your bike handlings skills.

I rode it.

My fat, 45mm gravel tires.

26 lbs up front, 28 in back.

Still very jarring.

I'm probably going to stick with that, even though the start will be a very fast and rolling climb.

Yeah, I know when we hit the dirt...

  • chunky gravel
  • to steepish single track
  • then steep rocky climbing

... around mile 9 it will be decisive.

I'm will to risk slilding back some spots for two reasons:

  • a lotta cats gonna explode on the dirt climb
  • I'd rather be comfortable and in control over the long haul

.... worth it?

We'll find out.

Come by the canopy and we'll compare notes.
