Decades earlier I'd collapsed on this same climb. On a similar day, Brad and I had foolishly joined Jeff and Eric. They were Cat 1s out for a good time on a big climb... ... I think we were the entertainment. We never made it to the top that day. Instead, we pulled over and enjoyed the view, joking about what a dumb idea it was to try and keep up with those cats... ... it would be years before I would try again.
