In a nutshell, Skjelmose' one heroic move was to make the effort to chase down #1 favorite Tadej, and in the process drew out #2 favorite Remco.
Once teamed up with Remco,
he held back, going so far as asking Remco to slow down.
With Remco doing most of the work,
they caught Tadej.
In a final display of great acting,
he cowered behind the two great champions.
While they're busy sprinting it out for the win...
