THE MOST RIDICULOUS BET I EVER MADE

MY FRIEND KEVIN IS A NUT.  He bet me $300 that his combined time at  the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race and LoToJa - the 200 mile road race from Logan UY to Jackson Hole WY would be better than mine.

First, who makes bets like that?

Second, who would do those 2 events back to back?

Third, what made him think it would even be close?!

But, that's Kev.  Volume cranked to 11 all the time... and I love him for it.  He's always getting me thinking.

One day he said to me, I'm going to write a book and be a best-selling author.  And he did it.

He crazy.

Today he texted me, Wanna ride in the morning?

Well, how could I pass that up... haven't ridden with him for at least 10 years.  We got some catching up to do.

No doubt there will be some new whacky bet.

Which is probably be a good thing because generally I'm cooking up some diabolical race plan by December - and I got nothing at the moment.

... My favorite part about what they call an "A" race is the process.  The planning.  The equipment choices.  Specific training.  Lodging.  Race kit.  It's endless, and I love it when it all comes together...

For sure I'm planning to wear this kit at Sagebrush Safari... the idea of slipping off the front never to be seen again is just too appealing, even if I fall off the back.
