CLIMBING UP THE LAST HILL BEFORE HOME, sheets of rain falling and cascading towards me, I thought about my spiffy, new bike... ... not my cold feet. Feet recover. Bikes seize. Fortunately, I had only mistimed the storm by a few minutes. Though the bibs were soaked, the sidewalls were still somewhat dry. Just needed to rinse down the road grime and dry off Hot Lava (bike's name). The only tool I'd need is a dry towel. However, If it'd been hours in a deluge and mud followed by letting the bike sit for a few days... ... I'd need a good mechanic. Good mechanics aren't good just because of their skills.
