THE ART OF RIDING

MANY GREAT THINGS HAVE RESULTED FROM CLOSING OUR RETAIL LOCATION.   For example, meeting Leah, the lovely artist who took over the space...

... coincidentally, a founding member of the Sisterhood Of Cycling.

I'm always amazed at vastness of the small word of bike lovers.  

Tonight at her gallery's art show, we met all kinds of of riders who live here in town, ride the same trails and surf the same waves.

Wait, do you know...

Oh, you ride with the Motley Crew

Haven't I seen you in the water at Sano..

While were having this lovefest and bondathon it comes up that one of the couples has a mountain bike tandem...

... and that's where I have to bite my tongue.

But, Surfergirl lets it out that we have one too.  

We rode the crud out of our Ibis Cousin It during the 90's.  Us.  The kids on the back.  All over the local mountains...

... until that fateful day I said No more.

It was hot.  We were grinding up a steep tail.  I was out of breath and she's talking about dinner plans and where to go on vacation the next summer.  I was out of breath!  Suffering!...

... she's painting her nails with her feet up on the top tube.

I snapped.

Silly I know.

The tandem sat in the garage for the next 20 years.  Saved by memories of good times.  Collecting dust.  Resting on flat tires...

... until I restored it last summer.

We've ridden it once.

I gotta feeling we'll be back on it soon with our new fast friends.
