STOP AND SMELL THE GRATITUDE

ON MY HOME LAST NIGHT I HAD TO LAY MY BIKE DOWN. There were things to do, places to be. Instead, I stopped. Or, I was stopped... ... it was too beautiful to keep riding. Who created all of this? Why am I so lucky to witness it? How did I wind up with the health to get up here? When will the the sun and sky ever be like this again? Moments like these are common, but I tend to ride right on through them... ... in a hurry to get on to the next thing. At dawn, I rose and began my morning writing. Reflecting on the previous sunset a steady stream started to flow... ... line upon line of gratitude. Calling out each person who has made a tremendous impact in my life this year by name, and their specific contribution. Detailing the changes I've made for the better in my mental, physical, social and spiritual life. It's been a great year... Demanding. Rough. ... the kind that makes me better.
