SHOULD TECH BE PART OF RACING?
SERIOUS QUESTION: Should we have more and more and more tech in racing? I've just reading this article about Froome being all geeked up on a realtime glucose measurement tool...
... It will change racing more than power meters, he exclaims.
But, is that a good thing?
I think the tech makes racing less interesting. Less chaotic. Less dramatic.
The biggies I've seen:
- HR monitors
- Radio comms
- Power meters
Think on that.
HR and Power meters to tell you how hard to go. Race radios to tell you what's happening in the race and what to do. Glucose meter to tell you when to eat...
... imagine some dork whispering, Drink 2.5 ounces.
Rubbish.
Let them race on feel,
make them read the race themselves,
let 'em bonk...
... keep it real, keep it human.
