DOUG GRANT CELEBRATED HIS 65TH BIRTHDAY by putting on the Good Dirt Ride and raising $101,652 for charitable causes. He's that kinda guy. Effective. Efficient. A servant leader...
... people naturally rally behind.
For his last time putting on the event, we had a light rain and the resultant hero dirt...
... the kinda dirt that is a moist and tacky.
It gives the feeling of riding like a hero.
So much grip.
Stand up and pound the pedals,
and the tires just dig and launch you forward.
Lean over and carve,
and it's like every turn has a perfect berm.
Of course he would conjure up just a morning.
As the riders came in from the 10, 25 and 50 mile courses, I could tell many of them had been challenged. There were a few nicks and bruises...
... but mainly smiles.
Happy to be done. Happy to have played a part in a worthy cause.
Doug was happy, too.
His final words, after many years of putting on the event, were a call to action...
... for all of us.
Isn't it wonderful that we able to set aside our differences and come together in harmony and do something good? Remember this, and keep building our community.
