... losers lose time when racing, lots of it, by making mistakes or playing it so gawldern safe they never see the action.

Of course he had, we'd seen it in numerous A, B and C races... and no doubt countless efforts he'd made on training rides.

He was there to win.

To the viewers it looks risky, to the winner it looks like the surest path to victory.
