IRRATIONALITY IN THE AGE OF

IRRATIONALITY IN THE AGE OF

I THINK ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE IS UNHEALTHY LEVELS OF COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL EXPECTATIONS.

Take our customer Dallas.

He calls up today...

Todd, I turned 70 this week and I rode 70 miles.  Can you believe that?

Yes...

None of my friends get it.  I picked up this bike thing a few years ago.

Well...

But, my new riding buddies get it.  They even rode with me, and had a nice birthday cake surprise at the end.  Can you believe that?

Heckyes I can believe that!

Ask most sexagenarians if they'll be able to ride 70 miles on their 70th birthdays and they'll think you're crazy.

It's not irrational to think you can ride 70 miles on your 70th... it's irrational to think this wonderful gift of a human body isn't made for it, it's irrational to think that letting yourself go is the way to go, it's irrational to think being out of shape is going to have you in shape when the grim reaper comes knocking.

I see all these severely out of shape people ripping around on ebikes thinking they are doing a body good.

Fools!

I mean... it's good to get outside, get away from the dawgawn screens that captivate our turningtojelly minds, yeah... that's all good.

But...

... it's irrational to think you can't do a helluva a lot more...

... and downright pathetic.

I suppose I should put a disclaimer in here for all all the reasons an ebike is acceptable - like Parkinson's, etc.  And that's true, there is a place.

But...

... well this reminds me of a story my deardead dad told me about trying to decide between a MercedesBenz and a Porsche - he was single and trying to score a lady, and it worked, then he got a famvan - the Porsche salesman said this...

Yes, the Benz is nice but if you have the balls to really drive and live dangerously there's nothing like a Porsche!

... to which I say...

The ebike is nice, but if you have the balls to go for maximum health there's nothing like racing a bicycle under your own Godgiven power!

Can I get an Amen?
