HAVE TRAVEL, WILL BIKE

I KNOW IT'S A TERRIBLE HABIT, BUT I CAN'T SHAKE IT.

Last night/this morning we were out at Joshua Tree for the Geminids meteor shower. Everyone was all geeked up, but me.

I mean, it was cool because I love our high desert. There's nothing like it. And it was great to be with our friends.

But the whole time I'm thinking...

This full moon is perfect for night riding
These boulders are so grippy, like Moab slick rock
There's got to be some sweet single track out here to ride

Paul is an amazing camp cook and grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon, stuffed mushrooms and jalapenos, followed by delicious tri-tip.

Camping food always tastes better, this was way better.

And I'm thinking...

This is just the kind of meal I'd eat before a huge ride
I wonder if we'll get a ride in or just sleep and sleep in the morning

The moon is like a giant spot light. To really see the meteors we'd need to wait until it set around 2am. The fire burns hot, so does some political banter.

Bright streaks eventually arrive. Beautiful and mysterious heavenly motions. Totally worth the wait.

I doze off.

We all do.

8am... and I'm thinking

The fellas will be in full gallop on the group ride.
I'm here. Unplugged, and digging it.
