DID HE JUST WINK AT ME?
GETTING THE GEAR SORTED ABOUT BEFORE RACEDAY is critical. We need to be comfortable and confident. But, what if...
... we experience some sort of failure in the run up?
Do we change?
If it's the week before?
Ugh.
I'm there.
Right now.
And it's not an insignificant part of my gear.
When Conti discontinued my RaceKings...
- favored
- trusted
- proven
... I, and maybe you, too, moved to the replacement, the Dubnital.
I've had several easy to plug punctures.
(I'm running the Race version vs the Trail because I race :)
But, one two weeks ago plus the one yesterday on the racecourse...
... has me rethinking my choices.
Yesterday's puncture, on a brand new tires I mounted up days before, ingested 3 regular plugs and one fatty.
Still didn't seal.
Had to bum a tube, after burning through my two cartridges and running RMCs electric pump down to zero.
Do I mount up another new tire? (yes, I brought one additional new tire because I like to be prepared)
Or, do I change...
- brands
- treads
- cores
... to what my trusted advisors are running?
The Maxxis Aspen ST Team.
It's not an easy decision.
I've been getting veryveryvery confident...
- ripping turns
- leaning hard
- coming in hot
... on the Dubs.
Not a life and death decision,
possibly a skin n bones one.
To be safe, I hopped on BikeTiresDirect and ordered the recommended set.
Paid for FedEx Next Day.
Also found a set of CushCores and Carvers in Breck.
I'll have a few days to test 'em out, get a feel for 'em.
Either way it's a roll of the dice.
But, that's not the point of this post.
The point is, sometimes God winks at us...
... do we listen or roll on same as before?
