BEFORE AND AFTER
WHEN THE STAKES ARE LOW it's changes everything. It's easier to have enjoy, be relaxed...
... roll the dice.
Failure is an option.
Like, an acceptable one.
Today's Filthy 50 turned out to be a hoot.
Within the first 5 miles, me and two of my pals were off the front of our category.
It was wild because while we're catching the wave of riders ahead of us, on a longish single track climb, the slayers who started behind us joined our attacking moves.
Lots of energy,
lots of fun.
My plan was to test what I've been doing the last couple of weeks on my "hard" days...
... sit in threshold on all the climbs.
Rather than pushing as hard as I might in race conditions.
It's turning out to be a really effective way to race,
not leaving me gassed.
On the course anyway.
Once I packed up and made the drive home, the fatigue started to settle in.
Within a few minutes of plopping on the couch and starting the game,
I was unconcious.
Woke up to see the team played like it was high stakes...
- tight
- mistake-prone
- poor energy management
... still, they managed to win.
Not easy.
