ALWAYS EAT WHEN YOU CAN
I FIND INSPIRATION EVERYWHERE. But, there's something about the Jack Reacher series I just love. The books resonate with the way I like to race, alone...
... no team needed.
As a bonus, Jack, the hero, lays down fictional knowledge hits like this:
Always eat when you can. Then you won't have to when you can't.
That is solid advice doing any kind of endurance race, the rougher the terrain the more I practice it..
If it's 3,4,5 hour race, I gotta eat, and I never miss an opportunity to do so when the terrain is smooth or the pace is chill. Especially if I don't know the course or the cats I'm competing against. Things can change quickly, and might not calm down for many miles.
Or,
When your instinct tells you something's wrong, somethings wrong. Always trust your gut.
This is, of course, our cyclesense.
Always trust your cyclesense when it's warning you to check your equipment or stay away from certain riders or off specific roads.
These tips for surviving fictional peril are totally legit. And our hero, being a lone wolf, must adhere to them to dominate the danger laden world where he operates.
We have plenty of potential hazards, all of which we want to avoid or dominate. There is plenty to learn, even from a made-up world.
If I ever write fiction, you know I'll work this in...
... the more we ride, the less risky it all becomes.
