A WORD OF ADVICE FOR THE SLACKERS OUT THERE
OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, I had a chance to sit down with an octogenarian. Dinner was over, the table had cleared, and out of nowhere he looks at me and says...
... Can I give you some advice?
Sure.
The easy way, always ends up being harder.
... hmmm...
And the hard way, always ends up being easier.
Now, I have no idea why he said that. Fact is, he couldn't place my name this year.
No matter.
I get it.
And, I guess I needed to hear it.
It can be applied to anything, but you know we only talk about racy things here.
Take bicycle maintenance.
It's easy to skip checking your chain wear,
there by letting the chain go to long,
and risk snapping it in a race,
or buying an entire drivetrain vs a little ol' chain.
Or food.
It's hard to eat farm food vs factory food,
but there's no better way to drop pounds and increase performance.
Or strength.
It's hard to do pull-ups and pushups every day,
but it sure makes climbing out of the saddle easy and powerful.
