Leadville Coach TB takes rookie rider across the finish Line in under 12 hours

I woke up with dream to ride the Leadville 100 MTB race and collect the finishers buckle. I was riding once a week or so and my equipment was terrible - but I set this goal as a bucket list. As luck would have it a good friend Greg A pointed me in Todd's direction for some advice on training and prep. I quickly learned how much of a monumental task this would be with a starting weight of 228lbs. Good for a defenseman on the ice rink but bad for climbing hills on a bike. Todd laid out a training program and I will say it was an ass kicking when I started. To whip this 49 year old body into shape involved full time work and fitting a training schedule of an additional 10-20 hrs per week of weight training, riding and losing weight. That journey came to fruition at Leadville Colorado where I was overcome with an enormous sense of gratitude crossing the finish line in 11hrs 25 minutes and getting a buckle - this was my first year of MTB racing ever!! A huge two thumbs way up for the roadmap laid out, the pointers along the way and all of the check ins and accountability that went into the preparation for the race. That is a long ass time to sit in a saddle! Would I do it again? Absolutely next time to set a new goal of sub 9 hours. Thanks Todd and Pedal Industries for an amazing feat and coaching this rookie over the finish line!!
